El Arco, a rock archway carved by the surf, dominates the harbor of Cabo, which lies at the southern tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. Glass-bottom boat rides, snorkeling excursions and deep-sea fishing trips are popular in Cabo. Or, shop at the pier's souvenir market or relax on a beautiful beach.

Small-ship cruises depart from Cabo San Lucas and sail through the Sea of Cortez.

Mazatlan is the sportfishing capital of the world. As the ship pulls into harbor, passengers will catch sight of the El Faro lighthouse, the second-tallest lighthouse in the world. The most popular excursions are city tours that visit the main square, the historic district and the beaches, and an all-day tour to the Sierra Madre mountains to see the villages of Concordia and Copola.

Since this port was discovered as a prime vacation spot in the 1960s, it has become home to luxury resorts and beautiful villas. But, the city's tranquil past is still evident in its charming courtyards, cobblestone streets and markets. The most popular excursions visit Gringo Gulch, the town square and unique cathedral. There's always shopping and horseback riding or relaxing on the beach.

Cruises from Long Beach depart year-round.

Long Beach, CA, located about 20 miles south of Los Angeles, is the perfect destination for leisure seekers. Beautifully situated along the Pacific Coast, the city provides unique dining experiences and an array of shopping choices. The port is adjacent to the RMS Queen Mary, the legendary liner launched in 1936, and used during WWII to transport military personnel. The Queen Mary retired to Long Beach in 1967 and now serves as a hotel. Be sure to visit the Aquarium of the Pacific, home to more than 12,000 animals, and featuring a shark lagoon. Next door is Rainbow Harbor and Shoreline Village, offering restaurants and arcades, perfect for the whole family. Long Beach is also home to a variety of cultural events, music festivals and sporting events. Los Angeles is served by both the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach.

Themed cafes, restaurants and lounges abound on this ship. Fans of "Casablanca" will enjoy Sam's, a Moroccan-inspired piano bar, while literature lovers will want to stroll through Gatsby's Garden, an indoor promenade with trellises, wooden tables and a pebble-lined path, designed to resemble the front porch of Gatsby's house in F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel. Restaurants include the formal Bacchus Dining Room, Nick and Nora's Steakhouse, and Horatio's Restaurant – a casual eatery that takes its name and nautical theme from a C.S. Forester novel. Enjoy a Las Vegas-style revue at the Phantom Lounge or dance the night away at Dr. Frankenstein's Lab, a bi-level dance club. Those who want to relax can read in the Raven Library or lounge by one of the ship's four pools. Younger travelers will appreciate the spiral water slide on the Sports Deck, as well as Wizards, the ship's arcade room. Carnival prides itself on offering larger staterooms than other cruise lines, and 80 percent of the rooms on the Miracle provide ocean views. All rooms include private shower facilities, telephones, closets and TVs that show first-run films.
