Amber Cove is located in the province of Puerto Plata on the Bay of Maimon. The cove combines historical colonial architecture with the contemporary amenities of the greatest ports in the modern world. With over 30 acres of waterfront property, Amber Cove provides a great variety of shopping and entertainment for visitors to enjoy. The port is also a huge transportation hub for surrounding areas such as Sosua and Cabarete. Spend the afternoon at one of the beautiful beaches where you can windsurf, kiteboard, or simply sunbathe and relax. After some time in the sand, head over to explore the coastal villages and shopping centers, or take a 30 minute ride out to Damajagua Falls. For a different kind of adventure, visitors can go to the outskirts of the city and enjoy the entertainment of the popular Ocean World Adventure Park.

Things to do and see on Half Moon Cay

Half Moon Cay is a private island shared by Holland America, Windstar and Carnival. The island is nine and a half miles around and has nine miles of beach (including an exquisite two-mile crescent-shaped beach), an exterior lagoon and an interior lagoon. The Bahamas National Trust has designated part of Half Moon Cay a wild bird preserve, leaving all but 55 of the island's 2,400 acres untouched and unspoiled and creating a plentiful habitat for a variety of land and seabirds. Spend the day horseback riding or hiking the island's nature trails through the lush broadleaf forest. Enjoy swimming, sunning and relaxing on the beach, or go scuba diving, snorkeling or kayaking. Deep-sea fishing, parasailing and glass-bottom boat rides are available. A variety of water toys are available for rent, including Hobie catamarans, Sunfish sailboats, windsurfing sailboards and kayaks.

Charleston is one of South Carolina's most picturesque cities, with beautifully preserved architecture and an aristocratic yet gracious atmosphere. Wooden shutters and ironwork balconies embellish the tall, narrow houses, and hidden gardens hold fragrant magnolia trees. You can tour the historic quarters on a walking tour or carriage ride. Boone Hall Plantation re-creates antebellum grandeur, and Middleton Place recalls life on an 18th-century plantation. Civil War buffs can tour Fort Sumter, where local troops opened fire on April 12, 1861, and set off the War Between the States.
