In the spring of 2019, the Carnival Triumph will undergo a $200 million makeover during a 2 month drydock, and come out the new Carnival Sunrise. The transformation will be made in Cadiz, Spain and the renaming ceremony is scheduled for late April, 2019.
The Carnival Sunrise will join the line's Sunrise Class, and according to Carnival officials, will be up to the standards of Carnival's new ships.
The most obvious changes on the Carnival Sunrise will be to the restaurant and bar offerings. New eateries will be Guy's Pig and Anchor Bar-B-Que and Cucina del Capitano, both found only on Carnival's newest ships. Also added will be Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi Express, and RedFrog Pub.
An adult-only Serenity Deck will be added, as well as upgrades to the spa and fitness center, outdoor recreation and redesigned cabin and cabin categories.
The Carnival Sunrise will begin offering cruises from Norfolk, VA on April 29, 2019 and will reposition to New York for the summer months of 2019 with cruises to Bermuda, Canada and New England, plus to the Caribbean. In October, she will head to her new homeport of Fort Lauderdale with Bahamas Cruises and Cuba Cruises.
